The Putnam County Republican Party held its County Convention March 14, 2009 at the Putnam County Courthouse. Delegates voted to adopt amended PCRP Rules and elected a new slate of officers to serve 2009-2011.

Dorothy J. Adams was re-elected to serve as PCRP’s Chair and Charles B. Patten was re-elected to serve as PCRP’s Treasurer. Also elected: Hattie Dunlap, 1st Vice Chair, Alan M. Oberdeck, Secretary, Donald E. Griffin, Assistant Treasurer, and Daniel J. Kelhoffer, Assistant Secretary.

The County Convention delegates also voted to send the following delegates and alternates to the 10th Congressional District Convention in Athens and/or to the GAGOP Convention in Savannah. Ray Stanelle, Dorothy Adams, Billy Webster, Phillip Uzzo, Alan Foster, Alan Oberdeck, Sheila Perry, Lynn Stanelle, Cindy Weiner, Shelia Patten, Charles Ashfield, Charles Patten, Steve Weiner, and Steve Hersey.

In other business, the delegates adopted two important resolutions: one in support of the GA 2012 Committee formed for the purpose of bringing the Republican National Convention to Atlanta in 2012; the other recites the PCRP’s progress since its formation in 1992, specifically names Republicans elected and re-elected to local office in 2008, thanks them for their service to Putnam County, and pledges PCRP’s support.

BOC Chairman Tom Thompson, BOC District 3 member Alan Foster, BOE District 4 member Tom Lawrence, and Solicitor General Michael Gailey all addressed the delegates and answered questions about their respective offices, issues they face, and highlighted positive changes that have been made.

Under national, state, and local GOP Rules, the PCRP is required to hold its County Convention in odd-numbered years and in every Presidential Election year.
